Dan Mangus, Director of Marketing for Hobie Cat® Worldwide, arrived in China from the Hobie Cat Company headquarters in the USA last night and had his first look around the location for the 21st Hobie® 16 World Championships today.

“I rolled in to town yesterday, it was a great trip over and everything went really smoothly. I got picked up at the airport by the special worlds shuttle to the event hotel, and boy that’s a nice convenient service for everyone coming in. I was very surprised with the hotel, it’s beautiful, the service is great and hotel staff members are very nice and the food in the western restaurant is great. Looking around there is a very special event colour and feel with the posters, banners and even a special card in the rooms.

The Hobie team that is assembled here is great, they’ve come from all over the place from Australia, the USA, Europe and the Hobie International Class association, are also represented here in China. As well as, all of the hard work they’ve all already done they are going to be on the water team and the beach team and doing media.

Today was a special treat for myself, along with some other team members, we got to take a look around the town and more importantly down to the event site. The worlds site is beautiful, the boats are all getting built, the team is working hard down there putting them together, they look beautiful and they’re sitting on a great sandy beach with palapas mixed among the boats. The whole venue is coming together really well.

For all those coming over you are going to have a great time, for all those that didn’t, you’re going to miss it, but hopefully you’ll be able to plug in and see it all online. We’ve got a lot of stuff happening on the worlds website so make sure you check it all out. Just remember that when Hobie® does anything you don’t want to miss it put this event in your calendar it is going to be another great Hobie World Championships. “

Michel Carigliano Managing Director of Hobie Cat Europe reflected on his first day in Dapeng after a long flight from Toulon in southern France.

“Today I had the chance to visit the beach and to have a look at the location for the world championships and I was impressed with the set up and the progress that has been made on the boats, as well as, the set up and the display in the event hotel.

I was here a few months ago, back in December, and since then a lot of things have been changed and upgraded from the advice given by the Hobie Cat team. It was very good to see all of the colours around the area and the event site, I have a very good feeling about these championships after being here for only one day and spending it with the team and looking at things from behind the scenes. All the team here is ready to welcome the Hobie sailors from around the world, this is going to be fantastic event guys, we are waiting for you.
