While today’s weather was predicted to reach a high of around 32C (89F) with clear, sunny morning skies, light showers began to fall overnight. There have been some easing breaks around Dapeng with blue sky breaking through the light, patchy showers while other areas in the surrounding region are experiencing heavy rain.
Seven new team members arrived last night, they’ve all had a good nights sleep and are enjoying their first delicious buffet breakfast in the resort’s western restaurant before having a rest day and checking out the local attractions. The group will have a tour of the resort facilities, then they will stroll around the corner to Seafood Street to check out the rows of fishmongers and seafood restaurants.
They’ll be shown where and how to catch one of the many unmarked and unmetered taxis and how much to (and not to) pay. They plan to catch a taxi into Depang Central where they’ll check out the best bank to use and where to find supermarkets, pharmacies and western fast food outlets, as well as exploring the attractive township.
Their next experience will be to jump on board one of the many motorbikes that transport people locally. The group will mount up and blast off to the Dongshan Buddhist Temple and Dapeng Fortress, which have been very popular with other groups who have already explored the local environs.
After these two sensational sites they will take a short walk over to the bay area to the beach and the lines of colourful restaurants, bars and coffee shops that line the promenade along the shoreline.
The group aren’t aware of it as yet but they are in for an excellent introduction to this vibrant, picturesque and culturally diverse location full of happy, friendly people.
