May The Breeze Be With You

Today is the second day of a three day series in the Open Qualifiers division of the 21st Hobie® 16 World Championships in Dapeng China.
Once again we have light winds predicted with just a little more puff than yesterday and should range between 7 and 9 knots, the breeze should blow from SE and be best later in the day. Most days throughout the regatta we have had a few more knots, particularly in the afternoon, than has been predicted, so hopefully we return to that same situation and sailors get a little more wind to work with.
We experienced disheartening weather through most of the yesterday but surprisingly came good mid afternoon and fortunately enabled the series to complete their first race in the series on day one of competition. This morning the sun has just risen to scattered cloud with a hint of rain but certainly the largest proportion of sky is clear and blue. While there is a 40% chance of rain and isolated late thunderstorms, in the morning light the day certainly looks promising.
It is currently 250C (770F) at 5:45am and the Dapeng New District is expecting a maximum of 310C (88 0F) but it will be hot and humid and feel more like 420C (1070F). The UV factor is sitting in the high range.
With one day down and one day of competition left tomorrow, the fight to win a place in the world championship semi finals today should see some fierce battles on the water. Good luck, fair sailing and may the breeze be with you.
