Masters Day Two The Heat is On

Today will be partly sunny but with extreme UV levels and covering up, applying sunscreen and drinking a lot of fluids will be essential as we head into day two of the Masters Series of the Hobie 16 Worlds in Dapeng, China..

It is only 5:00am and the temperature is already 270C (80.60F) and it is expected to climb to reach 330C (91.40F) and equal the highest recorded temperature for the last day of May in the Dapeng New District since records have been kept. With the combination of very high humidity and the heat it will feel more like a draining 450C (1130F) particularly for those working on the beach. There is a 25% chance of rain at sometime during the day and if it is not too heavy it will be a welcome relief for everybody.

The breeze was light early yesterday and improved after the lunch break. It should be similar today with a light 6kts coming in early from the south and picking up to 11kts later in the day. Hopefully, a little more wind blows through in the afternoon as happened on day one when crews were double wiring.

Congratulations to all competitors on an excellent day of racing yesterday. Going into today’s racing, it is very tight at the top end of the field, which is headed by the Rod and Kerry Waterhouse from Australia.

Good luck to all teams competing today.
