It’s getting closer and closer
Overcast skies covered the Dapeng New District as daylight broke this morning but dry conditions but persisted overnight. The temperature is already sitting at 270 C (800F) with a maximum of 290 C (840F) expected later today. There is a high chance of rain at sometime today but the excellent wind conditions that have been consistent since the Hobie® factory team’s arrival at the H16 World Championship venue have persisted again this morning and a 10kt breeze is already pushing across the bay.
The boat build is near completion and, one by one, the fleet of Hobie Cats was being craned to the waters edge from the boat build area and transported to the regatta beach. This process will continue this morning and when all of the boats are in place rudders will be pinned, masts stepped and the final touches to each boat will take place.
Excitement is building here in Dapeng as arrivals at the Shenszhen Bao’an International airport will start to increase from today in preparation for tomorrow’s Opening Ceremony and Masters Welcome Party.
