Day Two Open Semi Finals
Day two of the 2016 Hobie® 16 World Championship Open Semi Finals takes place today in Dapeng China. Yesterday, sailors from around the world started their campaigns to make the cut to reach the world championship finals which commence on June 12, the 2016 world champion will be crowned at a presentation ceremony dinner in the evening after racing on June 13.
The top 5 on the leaderboard after day one are:
1 F Warren-Myers and G Warren-Myers (AUS)
2 D Bjornhout and J Frederiksen (DEN)
3 R Waterhouse and B Waterhouse (AUS)
4 R Andrews and H Andrews (AUS)
5 A Duchatel and E Curtis (AUS)
After a lot of rain through the night today’s weather should reach a high of 31 degrees with considerable cloud cover, occasional rain and drizzle. The winds should blow from the SE at 5 to 7kts.
On the positive side, on the water at the event site location the wind has reached greater pressure than has been predicted every day of the regatta so far. Here’s hoping the winds will ignore the predictions once again and allow the Hobie red dragon sails to fly across Dapeng Bay as they have for the past 10 days.
